Classes

What's the maximum number of attendees per class?

We have a maximum number of 16 people per class [in our South Melbourne Studio], in Ripponlea 8 clients maximum for Reformer Pilates and 12 for Barre and Yoga. This ensures that the instructor can monitor each attendees though out the class to achieve maximum results!

How often do I need to attend classes?

Depending on your goals and exercise habits and your other activities, we recommend at least 1 to 2 sessions per week. Even with 1 session a week you would feel the benefit of S3 workouts. In the ideal world, 3 sessions a week would be optimal. We have a range of different workout to give you the variety to enable you to train regularly without getting bored or overruse one muscle group. We are also more than happy to sit with you to discuss the best and most sustainable options for you.

What's your cancellation policy?

We have a strict cancellation policy. If you cancel a group class 6 hours prior to your class start time, you will be fully refunded. Failure to attend without notice will result in a full fee charge to your account and / or a penalty of $10.

What if I'm running late?

If you're running more than 5 minutes late, it might be better to join a later class. It might be unsafe to join the class after warm up finishes.

The class I'm interested in is full, what can I do?

You can either call us to put yourself on the waitlist, or check the schedule regularly and something might come up as the day progresses. It is not uncommon to have last minute cancellation. Waitlists move quickly.

What if my class is cancelled?

In the rare event that a class needs to be cancelled, you will be notified as soon as we are aware. A class needs a minimum of 2 people to proceed. In the event that less than 2 people are booked, the class will be cancelled 2 hours prior to start time.

First Timer

Do I have to do a 1 on 1 class before commencing a group session?

If you’ve never done pilates before, it might be beneficial that you do a 1 on 1 for your very first session. If you’ve had issues in the past or have some ongoing injuries or simply are currently pregnant, the 1 on 1 session is highly recommended. You might get more out of your group sessions following a 1 on 1 because you now have a better understanding of what’s going on. That being said, most of our clients do just fine in a group session. You can always try a group class and if you feel you need a 1 on 1, then we can schedule something for you.

Where do I begin?

It doesn’t matter what your fitness level is, it is always best to start with a standard session. The instructor would be aware of your history and modify the exercises as the class progresses to make sure you are challenged throughout the class. At the end of the class, feel free to discuss with the instructor about how you feel regarding the level of the class.

Any tips for first timers?

Come in about 10 mins earlier so you have time to relax and get to tour the studio and meet your trainer prior. If you’re more than 5 minutes late, you might not be allowed into the class for safety reasons. (See the next point regarding what to wear.)

What do I wear to class?

Something comfortable to exercise in. We recommend tights, leggings or shorts and either a T-shirt or singlet top. Non grip socks are recommended but bare feet are also fine.

What facilities do you have?

We provide complimentary drinking water. We also have a comfortable changing room and waiting area. If you forget socks or your gear, we carry a small stock of socks and workout gear.
